How it came about?

Our founder Paul, a culinary trained chef is a simple man who prefers to not cook when he can. Paul was brought up, highly influenced and inspired by his mother, Mdm Phang - who has had more than 30 years of experience in the food industry.

One fine day, as he was driving in his old car (he's a man of loyalty - faithful to what he believes is good), spent over 30 minutes looking for something that would suit his taste. He ended up in a mamak store as he couldn't find anything. 

“I know a lot of people who have the same train of thought. We all just want a decent and proper meal, from a good chef. Flavorful, but not time consuming that you'd have to look around for it. After that incident,  I looked at my aging parents, held their hands, and told them: “I’m going to serve all the Malaysians one day with my culinary background".

After an intense short period of planning and executing - Harimau roared to the food delivery scene in Malaysia in July 2018, with the tagline “belum try belum tau, sudah try, hari-hari mau”.



Harimau promises to deliver premium quality food to everyone. To ensure maximum quality of your delivery, we've engaged both modes of transportation - bikes and cars, for the most efficient procedure in delivery depending on traffic, weather and circumstances.

We've broken the standard delivery rules and have given up using the standard delivery boxes. Harimau adopted the Japanese Bento method in order for the food to be nicely organised to its own compartment to  further enhance the dining experience by using microwave save premium boxes that comes in different colours. This enables you to microwave your food if you need to store it for consumption at a later time.



We obtain our ingredients from the local fresh market in Malaysia and we believe in the 'handpicking' method when it comes to groceries. Instead of getting them from a standard supplier who sends the ingredients to us in bulk, we choose what we want instead of what we need.

This is the only way to make sure every ingredient is the best for each delivery box we send out our doors.



You will realise our menu consists of mostly local authentic food, as the recipes are heartily curated by Mama Mdm Phang, our brand chef consultant. She loves cooking and has always been the 'in-house' chef of founder Paul's life since his birth. It is his mission to make sure HARIMAU's food reflects how he feels about his mother's cooking, and that the feeling gets mirrored directly to you.
